Only 8% of those aged 55 and over knew the correct meaning of “Stan” as “being a fan/ supporter”.
Only 3% of late Generation X-ers and Boomers knew the word “Simp”. Half of the Gen- X ers in particular thought, “Simp” to be a ‘person of low intelligence’.
5% of those aged 55 to 64 recognised the term, whereas over 56% of 18 to 24 showed familiarity with the term.
